Our Work
Our physical environment has a profound effect on our health and well being, particularly at times of illness or stress. GARTH has been established to work in conjunction with Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust to develop and implement a programme to improve the surroundings within the hospitals and community health premises, which are operated by the Trust.
The programme is being designed to both improve the patient experience throughout their care and the working atmosphere for the staff and general public.
It will cover as wide a range of media as possible, starting with the visual arts, particularly painting and photography, and music. It will seek to involve local groups and institutions as sources wherever possible and will build on several years of commitment to Arts in Health in the Gwent community
Whilst GARTH will work with Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust, it is an independent charity that benefits from establishing partnerships with a number of bodies but predominantly seeks funding from donations and contributions.
Arts in Health do make a difference and GARTH will be the key to that difference in Gwent.
