New Artworks for The Royal Gwent Hospital
2022 has seen three new commissions for departments in the ABUHB Royal Gwent Hospital made possible through NHS Charities Environmental Improvement funding and internal Arts in Health discretionary funding (Planning).
Each team wanted to enhance their environment for their patients and staff with artwork that was site specific, and the artists involved worked with each team to respond to their ideas whilst bringing their own creativity to the projects.
This exhibition brings together the work of artist Sue Hunt and photographer Paul Crompton as they explore the same subject through very different perspectives

Ruth Searle
Ruth’s artwork explores the connection that she has with nature and animals:
“When I create a picture of an animal, I start with the eyes of my subject. When we look into the eyes of another being, we see their soul. I love the feeling of connection I have when I paint and draw animals. Animals and nature are my greatest passion in life. Whether I am drawing the many animals I’ve been close to or representing nature through my abstracts, I feel connected to my subjects through my art.”
